PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT: CENTER FOR ENGAGEMENT AND ADVOCACY IN THE AMERICAS AND AMERICAS MIGRATION BRIEF

January 16, 2014

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Center for Engagement and Advocacy in the Americas (CEDA) is thrilled to announce its strategic partnership with the Americas Migration Brief (AMB). AMB's commitment to news and analysis across the Western Hemisphere seamlessly aligns with CEDA's focus on understanding regional migration dynamics. CEDA will support AMB’s Weekly Briefs and analysis, while also playing a part in original research and insight through contributions to special editions.

This partnership marks a significant stride towards cultivating an informed and compassionate dialogue on migration in the Americas at a time where it is most needed. In 2023, over 520,000 people made the perilous journey across the Darien jungle from well over 36 countries spanning the globe. Over 7.7 million Venezuelans have left their home country in recent years, and over 500,000 Cubans have approached the U.S. Southwest border since late 2021. By mid 2023, Latin American and Caribbean nationals accounted for one-third of all new individual asylum applications globally.

Meanwhile, new instruments and policies are emerging across the region, ranging from measures that eternalize borders to others that create conditions for migrants' legal stay and integration. In this context, the CDA-AMB collaboration becomes particularly timely as migration issues demand nuanced attention and creative solutions. Robust summaries of news and analysis, complemented by original research, will offer fresh perspectives for policymakers.

This collaboration facilitates a powerful synergy by combining AMB's in-depth migration analysis with CDA’s insights and advocacy efforts. Together, they strive to contribute to informed policymaking and public discourse on critical regional issues.
